Brachionus rotundiformis plays a crucial role as a rearing food, but can also be dosed very well in running tanks.

These small planktonic rotifers are excellent rearing food for many juvenile fish in reef aquaria. They are especially in demand for the successful reproduction of anemonefish. Since newly hatched anemonefish are still so small that they cannot yet eat other live foods such as Artemia nauplii, it is necessary to provide smaller substitutes. Brachionus rotundiformis are the first choice here, as successful breeding with our phytoplankton Nannochloropsis salina is a breeze and they are just the right size to be eaten by newly hatched anemonefish and other species.
For successful propagation, simply transfer the breeding stock to the desired amount of freshly prepared seawater in a separate container and feed with our phytoplankton Nannochloropsis salina. The culture should always have a slightly green coloration that the rotifers do not starve.
